Buying a domain name can sometimes be a headache if you don't know what to do. Well, no worries! This guide will help you get through the process!

Step One: Finding a Domain Provider

For security reasons, you will want to find a reputable domain provider. Now, that would be hard for you to find, so I did some searching for you :)
Here is a list of Domain Providers that have a moderate to good reputation.

Remember, most local domain providers don't allow you to have full control over your domain name. So go for international domain providers unless you need a .my or .com.my domain name.

Step Two: The Deal

What do you get out of it? Usually domain providers give you free emails, hosting (although not a good one), domain parking, domain forwarding, etc. But how do you know what to pick?

Here is an easy way; find a reputable domain provider. They usually offer the most (because they can afford to) so you can get the moust out of you every cent.

Step Three:What Domain To Buy?

Here is a simple list on general domains:

.info stands for information
.com stands for Commercial
.net stands for Network
.org stands for Organization
.us stands for United States
.biz stands for Business
.edu stands for post-secondary educational establishments
.my is for Malaysians
.com.my is for Malaysian Commercial Companies

Don't panic! Most people go for .com, because it is popular. .org is mainly for non-profit organizations.

Advice: If you want to make an international website, go for .com. If you want to do business mainly in Malaysia, go for .com.my (only for the local image), otherwise, go for .com simply because its easier. If you can't get a .com, get a .net (the second best thing).
