There are a few ways to get a sitemap, and the third option is the best.

1) Manual sitemap creation - this method is complicated, not reccomended if you are new to website creation. You can check out the instructions here .

2) Free sitemap generators - these are basic sitemap generators. They are free and generate sitemaps that are small (maybe 1000 links max, depending on how much they offer.) Some sites: http://www.xml-sitemaps.com , www.freesitemapgenerator.com .

3) Sitemap generator Scripts - Why is this the best method? Its because it gets all your pages indexed. By personal experience, free sitemap generators never got all of my pages. This will generate a sitemap, then tell google and yahoo about it. It also has no limit, meaning if your website has over 1 million pages, it will still create a sitemap. Submitting the sitemap to Google

Once you have your sitemap files, upload them anywhere on your website. Then, go to Google Webmaster Tools and submit your sitemap.

Also make sure you put a HTML copy of the sitemap linked somewhere on your main page, so that other search engines such as MSN and Yahoo can index your pages.
